The County of Brant Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” The campaign works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

“In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds,” said Fire Chief Geoff Hayman from the County of Brant. “Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of the time you have, giving everyone enough time to get out. If the alarm system sounds, take it seriously and exit immediately.”

The County of Brant Fire Department is hosting a series of Fire Station Open Houses.

“Come meet our local Firefighters, ask questions, learn about fire safety and see the fire trucks,” said Hayman.

Fire Station Open Houses are:
· Saturday, October 5, 2019, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – Paris Station 1, 61 Dundas St. E
· Saturday, October 5, 2019, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm – Scotland Station 8, 43 Simcoe St.
· Thursday, October 10, 2019, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm – St. George Station 7, 72 Main St. N.
· Friday, October 11 – Monday October 14, 2019 at the Burford Fall Fair, 6 Park Ave., Burford

“We hope to see you at the Fire Stations during Fire Prevention Week,” said Hayman.
