For five straight years, the Campus Ministry group at St. John’s College has participated in SKIP (Seniors and Kids Intergenerational Program).
Through SKIP, the students from St. John’s have three visits to Riverview Terrace Retirement Residence. During these visits, students and residents learn from each other, share stories, and get to know one another.
Instead of returning to Riverview Terrace for a fourth visit, the residents come to SJC for a coffee and tea hosted by the students. At this time, the residents listen to presentations from the students, explaining what the experience meant to them and what they learned.
This past Wednesday, November 7th at the coffee and tea, SJC’s Campus Ministry group was presented the SKIP award for the work they have done with Riverview Terrace. Students are challenged to connect these visits to their Catholic faith which calls us to care for people in all stages of life.
