Many cultures use folktales to pass on wisdom, traditions, healing and more. Jesus spoke in parables in the same way. Stepping into Stories is a storytelling workshop that explores ways to use folktales and folklore in a ministry setting. It will teach some basic storytelling skills through demonstrations, pair work, and culminate in an afternoon story swap around the fireplace. The workshop is geared for ministers, youth leaders, anyone in a healing ministry, or anyone who just loves the ancient art of storytelling.

This program is offered over two Saturdays, with an optional Friday night story swap and overnight stay.

The First Saturday will offer some basic storytelling techniques through ‘lecture’, demonstration, some and practical exercise with story partners. We will explore the ways that folktales can be used in various ministries and begin to work on an individual story.

The Second Saturday will give you a chance to work on your story with a story partner, using story coaching skills. The weekend will end with a celebration of stories as we share our individual stories in the group.

Come and have some fun! No previous experience of storytelling is necessary.

Subsidies available upon request.
