Everyone loves a good story! Many cultures use folktales to pass on wisdom, traditions, healing and more. Jesus spoke in parables in the same way.

Step into Story – Using Folktales is a 4-week online storytelling workshop starting March 10th that explores ways to use folktales in a ministry, setting. It will teach some basic storytelling skills through demonstrations, breakout room work, and a story swap.

The main goal of this course is to have fun as we learn how to use folk tales in different forms of ministry. It will be very practical, and suitable for anyone who is both experienced, and a complete novice at storytelling.

Week 1

Introduction

Basic techniques of storytelling (teaching and demonstration)

Folklore and copy right

Resources

Ways to use stories in ministry (group brainstorming)

Week 2

Using gestures, props

Using levels

Learning a story (chunking, names & places, add details)

Week 3

Working on your story to tell 

Story Coaching in partners

Week 4

Sharing of stories in a Story Swap

Come and have some fun! No previous experience of storytelling is necessary.
