It will appear nationally on CBC’s program Canadian Perspectives on Thurs. Nov. 18 at 11:30pm.  Following that, local writer/filmmaker Mark Bethune’s new short film “Finders Keepers” will be available to stream on CBC Gem.

The story follows a young mother-to-be traversing the winter landscape looking for a place to give birth in a dystopian near future.  The film stars Dani Kind from CBC’s Workin’ Moms and Kristian Bruun from Orphan Black and was days before the province went into Covid shut down in 2020.

Mark is a graduate of Brantford Collegiate Institute and has a BA from Ryerson University’s Film Studies Program.  While living in London, England, he directed TV CBC commercials in Germany and India.  In 2009 he attained a Master’s Degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, which led to a a term in Silicon Valley, and a co-op experience in Beijing.  Upon graduating, Mark worked in New York reading scripts at a prominent film production company.

Returning to Canada, has lead to various jobs in the Toronto area while keeping his hand at making short films and writing.  Mark is now raising money for the feature length version of FINDERS KEEPERS.
