The Grand Parade 2022

Event Details

The Grand Parade encourages participants to step out in honour of their aging friends and family members, and to fundraise on behalf of charities who support them. This year, 35 locations across Canada will be hosting Grand Parade events with a goal of raising collectively more than half a million dollars to support aging Canadians.

On Saturday, September 17, (from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 noon) the Brantford Grand
Parade will be an in-person celebration in support of the Grand River Council
on Aging (GRCOA) and will be hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Brantford at the
Kiwanis Field behind Pauline Johnson Collegiate.

Each team and walker receives their own web site to post pictures and encourage participation.  T-Shirts can be earned and will be distributed on September 17 along with other “swag”!

The funds raised will go toward maintaining the essential GRCOA programs and resources that keep our seniors connected and engaged.  A visit to www.grcoa.ca will allow you to visit the INFO HUB with over 350 links to local resources, activities, and services of interest to the older population.   As well, a Seniors’ Discount Directory lists more than 250 businesses in Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations of the Grand River that offer discounts to seniors.  Community At Home free virtual workshops are also available to encourage socialization and participation among seniors, aiming to reduce the impact of social isolation that can lead to loneliness and health concerns.

The Grand Parade is something special. It’s motivational
and meaningful and can bring participants together to make a
difference locally.
