Event Details

Catherine Gorecki and Genevieve Rochette have been playing and teaching together for the past ten years. They led the Dufferin Ukulele Ensemble at Ecole Dufferin School, performing at Kiwanis festivals and on the Sanderson Centre Stage. Genevieve also founded and lead the Hard Strings Ukulele Band at St George German School.

In October of 2022, Catherine and Gen started the Bell City Strummers, a community ukulele ensemble, for experienced players and brave beginners, based at the Brantford Public Library.  In March, 2023 they travelled together to Banos, Ecuador, completing a long-awaited project to teach ESL through singing and playing ukulele at the St George Centro de Nivelacion. Gen and Catherine have both trained with James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom series, Level 3. They teach private lessons for students of all ages.

Geneviève and Catherine are both passionate about making music accessible to all. They are currently fundraising to put more ukuleles in the hands of the community in Banos, Ecuador. They have created a GoFundMe page and all donations go directly to St. George School in Banos. Please consider a donation of any size to this initiative.
