ViBrant ARC (Art Reconnecting Community) encourages you to join us at the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead for ARC in Rural Spaces. During this time, Expressive Arts Therapist in Training Mabe Kyle will give an interactive presentation on the impact of community and the arts on their life. Mabe has engaged in a variety of artistic expressions throughout their life and their international trave4ls from reading their poetry on a radio station in Jamaica to taking folk dance classes in Breizh (Bretagne, Brittany), a Celtic region of France, to creating short films and documentaries in India. Since March of 2020 they’ve been back in Brant County sharing their artistic gifts with their home community. You may have even seen them perform as a drag artist by the name Holden Reins as they made their debut performance in Paris this past January. This summer they’ve been working to self publish a book of poetry, creating a multimedia oral history project on rural queer life, and facilitating peer run creative expression workshops. They recently became a member of the Brantford Potter’s Guild. In their spare time they enjoy embroidering items that they’ve thrifted, collaging with friends, and taking pictures of the plants and animals on their farm. Part of this presentation will be dedicated to questions to the artist from the audience.
ViBrant ARC will provide refreshments and light snacks. We welcome donations (cash or etransfer) to help our grassroots arts and culture group as well as the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless organization. The pavilion at Adelaide Hunter Hoodless is accessible and parking is free on the property. There is a fully accessible washroom outdoors. Please bring your own a folding chair. There are picnic tables is you don’t have your own chair. This is an outdoor event and will be a rain or shine event.
