The city of Brantford encourage members of our community to join us on Thurs. Nov. 11th as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, those who served our nation and how meaningful their sacrifices are to our community and cherished way of life.
In addition to a variety of online programming and Remembrance Day speeches submitted by local students, a high quality and fulsome virtual Remembrance Day ceremony will be posted online at https://www.brantford.ca/en/your-government/remembrance-day-services.aspx on Nov. 11 for those who would like to participate virtually. The video will also be shared on all City of Brantford social media platforms.
An overnight lighting display will take place at the Cenotaph on Wed. Nov. 10 beginning at 6pm until Thurs. Nov. 11 at 7am.
Residents are encouraged to step outside their home, place of businesses or place of learning and look up as vintage airplanes including the Lancaster, orbit our city in remembrance at approximately 11:15am on Nov. 11.
Residents are invited to attend the Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph and are asked to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols including physical distancing and wearing face coverings to keep everyone in attendance safe. Seating will only be available to veterans and their spouses or companions.
The order of proceedings for the City’s Remembrance Day Services and Parade on Thurs. Nov. 11 is as follows:
- 10:40am The Walking March leaves the Armouries en route to the Cenotaph at the Brant County War Memorial
- 11:00am Civic Service of Remembrance at the Brant County War Memorial, Brant Ave. and Dalhousie St., Brantford. A fly-pass will occur during the service courtesy of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
The following streets will be closed on Thurs. Nov. 22 from 9:30am to 11:45am:
- Dalhousie St. between King St. to Brant Ave.
- Brant Ave. between Church and Colborne Streets
Detour routes will be signed to accommodate vehicular traffic.
Between the hours of 10am and 1pm on Nov. 11, 2021, free parking will be provided at downtown area municipal parking lots. Parking time restrictions at on-street parking spaces in the downtown area will be waived.
Brantford Transit fares will also be waived for riders wearing a poppy to and from the service.
