WHO: Sarah Hamilton
Originally from St. Marys, Ontario, Sarah has been the education coordinator at the Bell Homestead since 2006 and has called Brantford home since 2007.
Sarah has been making art since she was old enough to hold a crayon. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Studio Art from the University of Guelph and a certificate in Museum Management and Curatorship from Fleming College. Sarah has always been fascinated by the past especially old photographs and local histories. She uses both family and found photographs as inspiration for paintings and embroidery; she enjoys exploring old cemeteries and often incorporates motifs from 19th century gravestones in her work. She started making collages as a teenager and finds alot of material in her visits to antique shops and thrift stores. Sarah has done a number of pet portraits too.
Sarah also uses her art skills to teach children often as part of the education programs she delivers at the museum.
Sarah will be contributing an item to help ViBrant ARC. Cash donations are appreciated and will be used towards ViBrant ARC initiatives such as this Salon ARC series.
Please consider joining ViBrant ARC for our monthly visioning sessions held the 3rd Thursday of each month, 5pm to 6 pm at the Brantford Public Library, 3rd floor meeting room. We have several initiatives in progress now and would like to share them with you.
