On Sunday, September 8th, community members of all ages came out to Earl Haig Family Fun Park to celebrate Grandparent’s Day, and to support SKIP, Seniors and Kids Intergenerational Programs at the third annual Brantford BURST Colour Run/Walk.
Participants were able to enjoy the beautiful weather along the Grand River while completing the 5k+ course and passed through clouds of colour tossed by our volunteers at the colour stations along the way. The turnout from the community was excellent and we were happy to see each participant return to Earl Haig bursting with colour!
Participants were able to enjoy the afternoon full of activities while visiting vendors and learning more about our community sponsors. The Burst Colour Run supports the SKIP Program, which facilitates programs to bridge the gap between the young and old in Brantford and area. The proceeds of the event go directly towards providing bus transportation for classrooms in our community.
We at SKIP want to extend our thanks to our volunteers, participants, and community organizations: All State Insurance, Branford Tourism, Crime Stoppers, Dance Xcetera, Grand River Council on Aging, Habitat for Humanity, Moksha Yoga, PACE (Grand River Community Health Center), Little String Orchestra, Brant/Brantford Paramedic Service, Brantford Fire Department, City of Brantford; and to our sponsors: Arise Brantford Radio, Brantford Tourism, Brantford Toyota, Brittain Group Financial, BScene, Chartwell Tranquility Retirement Residence, King & Benton, Schuit Homes Inc., Verka Foods, Whatcha Wanna Wear, and Brantford Convention Centre for donating the stage.
We thank you all for making this year a successful one, and we encourage everyone to save the date for next year’s BURST Colour Run on Sunday, September 6th, 2020! To learn more about SKIP, or to become a volunteer or sponsor, please visit our website at goskip.org.
