Community Resource Service / Brantford Food Bank continues to search for a new home for the 2018 Christmas Baskets Program.
“We continue to look for a suitable location for our 2018 Christmas Baskets Program,” says Heather Vanner, Executive Director. “We would normally begin registration on November 1, but without a location, our program start will be delayed.”
The Christmas Baskets program usually runs from November 1st to the first weeks of January. A new donated location, preferably on a bus route, would need approximately 8,000 – 10,000 square feet, with loading docks &/or a shipping area is required. The program volunteers work many long hours at this location, so an area with heat, running water, and washrooms are a must.
“Each year we have been able to work with our community to find a suitable donated space for the program. This year, finding a location has been a challenge, but we are confident a suitable spot is out there,” says Vanner.
Christmas Hampers were provided to over 1,500 families and individuals from Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations in December 2017 with over 1,700 children received a new toy, books, knitted items and other items for Christmas morning. The agency expects the need for our program to be high again this year.
Once a new location is found, dates for registration will be announced.
